Introduction

Welcome to Dr. Siyuan Zheng’s laboratory at Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute, UT Health San Antonio. We are a group of research scientists working on the forefront of cancer genetics and genomics. We develop tools and perform integrative data analysis for one single purpose: understanding cancer. Please explore our website to learn more about our research and our team.

More about me – after receiving my bachelor degree in biochemistry from Nanjing University (2000-2004), I decided to switch to bioinformatics for my PhD. I spent the next five years learning programing, statistics, microarray analysis, network biology etc. at Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and earned my PhD in 2009 (Dr. Yixue Li Lab). My postdoctoral training started in Vanderbilt University Medical School (bioinformatics, systems biology, 2009-2011; Dr. Zhongming Zhao Lab). After two productive years, I moved to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas to pursue cancer genomics (2011-2017). At Dr. Roel Verhaak’s lab, I received broad training in cancer genomics, and was extensively involved in TCGA. In Nov 2017, I was appointed assistant professor in the department of epidemiology and biostatistics, and started my own lab at Greehey Children’s Research Institute, UT Health San Antonio.
I live with my wife and two children in Stone Oak, San Antonio.
